Guest lecture: Dr. Bernd Westphal on the Systems Engineering for Future Mobility Institute

Systems Engineering

On Wednesday, 24 August 2022,  Dr. Bernd Westphal, Group Leader at the Systems Engineering for Future Mobility Institute of the German Aerospace Center (DLR), was the esteemed guest lecturer during the virtual EMoS Graduate Seminar at NM-AIST. Dr. Westphal gave his lecture on the “German Aerospace Center: Institute Systems Engineering for Future Mobility”. He gave the audience an overview of the research activity at the Northern German institute into design and assessment methods and tools to ensure trustworthy system evolution during operation as well as the automatic collection of system performance and diagnostic information for continuous improvement.

Roughly once a month CENIT@EA welcomes an expert for a guest lecture during the Graduate Seminar of the Master Programme in Embedded and Mobile Systems. The experts can come from all different kinds of backgrounds: academia, industry, public sector or anything else. The topics of the lecture are likewise intended to cover a broad field. The guest lectures regularly trigger lively discussions and inspire.

About the Systems Engineering for Future Mobily Institute at DLR

The DLR Institute of Systems Engineering for Future Mobility located in Oldenburg is researching methods for developing and assessment of automated and autonomous traffic systems. The focus is on the development of new efficient methods and tools of systems engineering for the proof of functionality (verification) and practicability (validation) as well as the further development of trustworthy systems. This is a major challenge for future generations of automated and autonomous transport systems.
