Training on Digital Skills for Universities starts

Training

On February 1, 2022, a comprehensive training program on “Digital Skills for Universities in Times of the COVID-19 Pandemic” in the East African Community (EAC) countries was kicked-off at the Pan Africa Christian (PAC) University in Nairobi, Kenya. The training program was created by IUCEA in partnership with the German Agency for International Corporation (GIZ), two of the implementation partners behind DSkills@EA – CENIT@EA.

To start with, 177 participants from all six EAC member states take part in the training. They come from thirty universities in the six member states that were chosen as a result of a call for an expression of interest. The partners expect to welcome in total 300 participants until the end of the programme.

The goal of the training is to equip the EAC universities with the skills necessary for building capacities and competencies for online learning and teaching. The training will be conducted between January and July 2022 and will cover the following topics: online didactics and digital tools; open-source systems for online teaching; e-resources; online formative and summative assessments; quality assurance and installation, and integration of learning management systems (LMS).

PAC University was  selected to be the consulting organization to carry out this training.
