EABC and IUCEA sign MoU

On 1 December 2021, the East African Business Council (EABC) and the Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support job creation and professional skills in the EAC region.

The MoU aims at strengthening the ties between academia, public and private institutions to the benefit of all. This happens party in reaction to concerns raised by the private sector about a lack of relevant skills in youths and graduates. A closer relationship between academia and potential employers shall ensure that skills acquired during training match employers’ demands. This fosters candidates’ employability, benefitting themselves as well as their employers. Another long-term of the goals is to help overcome existing trade and investment challenges in the region.

Measures conceptualised within the MoU include internships and revised curricula and trainings.

The EABC is the umbrella body bringing together private sector associations in the East African Community and as such associated with the CENIT@EA project. IUCEA is an implementation partner in the project.
